We live in a rapidly globalizing world, and CSU’s International Studies Program embraces this interconnectivity by training tomorrow’s global citizens. International Studies is interdisciplinary, which means that it includes content and methods from a range of liberal arts disciplines, especially:

  • Anthropology
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
  • Political Science

If you are curious about the wider world and you have broad academic interests, this major is perfect for you! International Studies will enrich your understanding of diverse cultures, peoples, and global issues, and grant you in-depth knowledge of a specific world region. You can choose from the following concentrations:

  • Asian Studies
  • European Studies
  • Latin American Studies
  • Middle East and North African Studies
  • International Engineering (a dual degree program)

As an International Studies major, you will learn to recognize the cultural context of political issues and to see the bigger picture. You will also gain the benefits of a liberal arts education, including top-valued skills such as critical thinking, leadership, and written and oral communication. As a graduate, you can use these skills in just about any career! Our alumni pursue a wide variety of employment opportunities, though diplomacy, law, politics, teaching, community development, and non-profit organizations are particularly popular.
