Study A Range Of Disciplines

We live in a rapidly globalizing world, and CSU's International Studies Program embraces this interconnectivity by training tomorrow's global citizens. International Studies is interdisciplinary, which means that it includes content and methods from a range of liberal arts disciplines, especially:

  • Anthropology
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
  • Political Science

International Studies majors choose a concentration based on a geographical area: Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East.

Within that concentration, students study:

  • A related foreign language
  • The International Studies global curriculum
  • Three core curriculum courses
  • Courses from a range of liberal arts disciplines

We also offer a global studies minor.

Global Awareness & International Affairs (GAIA)

Global Awareness and International Affairs (GAIA), the official student club for International Studies at CSU, is geared towards fostering international awareness and career development through networking opportunities, leadership projects, and real world experience.

As a student-run non-profit organization at Colorado State University, GAIA aims to equip students with the skills and opportunities required to gain cultural perspectives and become dynamic agents in international careers. These skills include intra-organization communication, event planning and public outreach, all of which are essential to a well-rounded global ambassador and international employee.

The club is open to all CSU students. We hold bimonthly meetings and host events on a monthly basis. Club-hosted events include international film showings, career panels and speaker venues, and aim to enrich cultural perspectives. Our members actively seek out professors, administrators, campus organizations and community members in order to promote our mission and build connections. Through these skills and opportunities, we at GAIA hope to foster future world citizens and guide them towards meaningful global careers.
