Middle Eastern/ North African Studies

MENA MapThe Middle East/North Africa Concentration emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of Middle East and North Africa cultures and societies. Courses in this Concentration combine history, religion/philosophy, literature, art, and language skills to give you the tools to understand and interpret this area’s past and present.

Within this Concentration the student completes at least three years of the Arabic language, one semester of introduction to geography, a set of two courses in Islamic/Middle East history, and eight courses from three “Tracks,” “History and Politics of the Middle East/North Africa” (Track I), “Religion and Culture of the Middle East/North Africa” (Track II), and “International Studies” (Track III). Presently, the Arabic language is offered at Colorado State University, but other languages could be studied in study abroad programs with approval of your advisor for this major.
